Two suspects arrested for alleged burglary, theft in Ogun

The Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) has arrested two suspects identified as Monday and Vovo over alleged burglary and theft of pumping machines in Atan-Ota, Ogun State.
The corps spokesperson, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, stated this in a statement disclosed on Tuesday.
He said the suspects were arrested on Monday at Ajambata, along Sokoto Road, Atan-Ota.
He added that the suspects were arrested after members of the community raised the alarm that some men were caught with pumping machines allegedly stolen from a burgled location.
He stated, “Upon receiving the information, So-Safe Corps operatives on patrol, within the community immediately, moved to the scene and apprehended the suspects.”
Mr Adegbuyi said the suspects were subsequently taken to the Atan Area command of the corps.
“During preliminary interrogation, Monday, one of the suspects, who are both natives of Cotonou, Benin Republic, disclosed that he had been residing in Atan for several years, while Vovo stated that he arrived in the area a few months ago,” he said.
He said Mr Monday denied accompanying Mr Vovo to remove the pumping machines but admitted that he usually assisted in finding buyers for stolen items, an account Vovo reportedly confirmed.
He noted, “Two pumping machines were recovered from the suspects and brought to the Area Command.”
He also noted that three individuals came forward to identify and claim the recovered items.
Mr Adegbuyi added the suspects had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Atan Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
