U.S. reaffirms commitment to helping Nigeria combat terrorism

The United States says it has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Nigeria to combat terrorism and strengthen regional security.
In a social media post on Friday, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria said the visit of Maj. Gen. Matthew W. Brown to the country demonstrated Washington’s commitment to developing security solutions in Nigeria.
“The United States stands with Nigeria in countering terrorism and advancing regional security. Maj. Gen. Matthew W. Brown’s visit to Nigeria reaffirmed our strong defense partnership and shared commitment to building Nigerian-led, enduring security solutions and continued cooperation,” it said.
This comes amid rising insecurity in the country, including the abduction of 20 prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Imo State, who were released days later.
