German champions Bayern Munich have been pitted against Robert Lewandowski’s Barcelona, while Manchester City will play Borrusia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League group stage this season.

Bayern smashed Barcelona 8-2 in Lisbon in 2020 and also defeated the Catalan side 3-0 twice in the group stage of last season’s competition.

Lewandowski was a big part of those victories, having scored 344 goals for Bayern over eight seasons before joining Barcelona this summer for almost €50m. Victoria Plzen and Inter Milan are the other sides in their group.

In Group G, Erling Haaland will return early to the Signal Iduna as Manchester City will face Borrusia Dortmund, Sevilla and Copenhagen.

Last season’s runner-up Liverpool play Ajax, Napoli and Rangers in Group A while reigning champions Real Madrid will face Celtic, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk in Group F.

Paris Saint-Germain, still gunning for their first ever title, will play against Juventus, Benfica and Maccabi Haifa in Group H.
