Police arrest another Abuja driver over fake presidential number plate

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has arrested a motorist over alleged use of a fake presidential number plate in Abuja, barely five days after apprehending a driver for a similar offence in the Maitama district of the territory.
The latest suspect, identified as Agbogun Bernard, was arrested on Monday while driving a black Toyota Corolla bearing a fake presidential number plate M01-997 FG.
In a statement on Tuesday, the FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the suspect was arrested on Monday at about 2:35 p.m., following credible intelligence received by the operatives.
The police said the vehicle was subsequently taken to the command’s headquarters for investigation.
She stated, “During preliminary investigation, the driver of the vehicle could not give satisfactory explanation as to the source of the registration number.”
The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the allocation, ownership and use of the registration number, as well as the authenticity of the vehicle’s registration particulars.
