The Federal Road Safety Corps has said it will not accept certificates from unaccredited driving schools to process driver’s licence.

The FRSC’s Sector Commander in Oyo State, Rosemary Alo, gave the warning during an interview on Sunday in Ibadan.

Ms Alo urged citizens to always verify the status of a driving school from appropriate quarters before enrolling for the driving course to avoid waste of time and resources.

She said, “We are organising regular training for driving schools’ instructors, to equip them with requisite knowledge needed to train prospective drivers. People should always ensure that they register with FRSC accredited driving schools. Anyone undergoing training from an uncertified school will not only be badly tutored, but also waste time and money invested in the training. FRSC will not accept certificate from such unaccredited schools for the processing of driving licence.’’

Ms Alo reiterated the importance of obtaining a certificate from an accredited driving school to get a driving licence.

The commander said that driving schools must meet specific standards, including having qualified instructors, roadworthy vehicles for training, and necessary facilities.

She said, “Standards are required to ensure that driving schools provide quality training, reduce the risk of accidents and enhance road safety.’’

Ms Alo warned that any driving school caught for non-compliance would face appropriate sanctions, including either suspension or withdrawal of certificates.
