Humanitarian packages from the U.S. Agency for International Development were found among weapons belonging to the Lebanese movement Hezbollah.

The New York Post newspaper cited a former Israel Defence Forces soldier on Monday.

The soldier said that he found sniper rifles, anti-tank missiles, and explosives next to packages labelled USAID while patrolling a village in Lebanon where Hezbollah had a stronghold, the report said.

The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, recently recommended significantly reducing spending on federal agencies, including the USAID, the Department of the Treasury, and the Office of Personnel Management.

For instance, U.S. media reported last week that the Trump administration planned to cut the USAID staff by 97 per cent to 294 employees, down from more than 10,000 currently working for the agency worldwide.
