Video: Kenya probes Spanish tourist caught feeding elephant with beer

Wildlife authorities in Kenya have launched investigations after footage of a Spanish tourist pouring beer down the trunk of an elephant sparked widespread outrage on social media.
According to the BBC, the man with the username Skydive_Kenya posted the video, apparently filmed at Jogi Conservancy in the central county of Laikipia, on Instagram, with the caption “Just a tusker with a tusked friend.”
His action immediately angered Kenyans, who rushed to the comment section of the post to condemn the behaviour, forcing him to delete the video, which had shown him drinking from a can of Tusker, a popular local beer, before giving the rest to the elephant.
In another post on Tuesday, the Instagram account shared a video of himself feeding two elephants carrots and then saying, “We are on beer time”, which also drew massive backlash, with some calling for his deportation.
A worker stated that the privately owned wildlife sanctuary was shocked by the videos, adding that the incident would be reported to the relevant authorities.
“This should never have happened. We’re a conservation and we can’t allow that to happen,” the worker told the BBC in an interview. “We don’t even allow people to go near the elephants.”
Meanwhile, Paul Udoto, the spokesman for the Kenyan Wildlife Service, also told the BBC that the agency was investigating the incident.
