The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has suspended release the 2020 examination results till next week.

WAEC in a statement on its Twitter page on Wednesday said the postponement of result releases was due to imposed curfew in some states. However, the date for result release will be announced soon.

“WASSCE SC 2020 Results Release Date: Dear candidates, the Council had planned to release the results today in fulfillment of our Project 45 but due to the curfew imposed last week, it had to be postponed till next week”, WAEC said. “The exact date will be made known soon.”

This comes days after the National Examination Council (NECO) announced an indefinite postponement of this year’s ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, citing security reasons and curfew in some states.

#EndSARS, a campaign against police brutality held for almost weeks, disrupting economic activities.

The shooting of protesters at Lekki Toll Gate by Nigerian soldiers last week Tuesday, ignited nationwide violence as thugs took advantage to plunder and destroy properties, compelling state governments to declare curfew.
