We’ll follow Gov. Adeleke wherever he goes, Osun PDP caucus says amid defection rumour

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in Osun says it will support Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision amid speculation about his potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
There had been speculation of Mr Adeleke defecting to the APC ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election in the state.
Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for the governor, said in a statement on Saturday that the PDP caucus gave their support during a meeting on Thursday in Osogbo.
Mr Rasheed also said the caucus passed a vote of confidence in Mr Adeleke, urging him to continue consultations with all stakeholders locally and nationally.
He said the caucus also commended the governor’s leadership style and performance in office.
Mr Rasheed added that the PDP caucus, in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting at the Government House, resolved to follow Mr Adeleke wherever he goes.
He, however, recognised the fact that the governor was still consulting on the next line of action.
According to him, the meeting was attended by members of the national and state assemblies, the state executive council, party executives, the Special Advisers’ Forum, the Elders Caucus, and the state chapter of ALGON leadership.
Meanwhile, Mr Adeleke was, on Friday, absent at the South-West Caucus meeting of the PDP in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, fuelling rumours of a possible defection from the party.
Mr Adeleke’s absence alongside PDP members in Osun at the meeting raised speculation over his potential defection following his meeting with President Bola Tinubu last month at his Ikoyi, Lagos, private residence.
