The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, has the capacity and deserves support for more development within the city centre.

Speaking on Saturday in Abuja at the commissioning of the five-kilometre Saburi road project, Mr Wike said Mr Maikalangu had been committed and assured him of his support for more development.

Mr Wike assured of continued support, pledging new projects to enhance connectivity and livelihoods across AMAC wards.

The minister commended Mr Maikalangu’s leadership and promised swift action on additional infrastructure projects, including the Dei-Dei access road.

Mr Maikalangu, who earlier lauded Mr Wike for commissioning the road project, said it had boosted business and economic activities in Gwagwa Ward.

He called for further road construction for underserved communities like Zaudna, Kaba, and Kagini.

He also celebrated Mr Wike’s approval of police stations to enhance security while soliciting for further interventions for neglected communities.

The AMAC chairman described Mr Wike as the only minister who knew that those in the villages also deserve the good things of life.

“On behalf of the people of AMAC, I have the pleasure of welcoming you to the commissioning of this beautiful Saburi access road, which you promised and delivered in record time,” he said.

Mr Maikalangu also announced his administration’s construction of over 40 Trunk C access roads and urged Mr Wike to get ready to commission more projects across AMAC wards.

He listed the access roads as the Orozo community road, Mabushi township road, Jahi community road, Gosa road, and Sabon Lugbe road.

Others are Toge community road, Dnako road, Karmo township road, Kugbo, and township road.

“In the same vein, over 40 solar power boreholes constructed, 18 primary health care centres: 18 primary schools, and two town halls have been constructed.

“There are also 29 rural electrifications, numerous solar street lights across our communities, youths, women and farmers empowerment, construction of markets,” he said.
