A lady identified as Ksenia Ovchinnikova has pressed legal charges against American fast-food company McDonald’s for their mouthwatering burger commercials that tempted her to break her fast.

“By this point, I had already been fasting for a month, but when I saw an advertising banner, I could not help myself, I visited McDonald’s and bought a cheeseburger,” Ms Ovchinnikova said.

The orthodox Christian claims to have successfully observed her lent for 16 years before her encounter with the tempting cheeseburger advert that motivated her to break her fast forcefully.

“In the actions of McDonald’s, I see a violation of the consumer protection law and I ask the court to investigate and, if a violation has taken place, to oblige McDonald’s LLC to compensate me for moral damage,” she added.

Hollywood Unlocked says Ms Ovchinnikova is suing the food company for $14 with claims of “breaching consumers protection law and insulting her religious beliefs” as a Christian.

Despite being expected to consciously abstain from meat, meat by-products, poultry, eggs, and dairy for the entire time of the lent, Ms Ovchinnikova, strongly claims McDonald’s “intentionally” advertised meat products during the auspicious lent period to lure the likes of her.

The date of the court hearing is yet to be set.
