YEDC commits to network upgrade to improve power supply

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) on Wednesday expressed its determination to complete a major network upgrade within its franchise area to improve the supply and distribution of electricity.
Blessing Tunoh, the YEDC’s communications officer, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Yola.
Ms Tunoh said the strategic investment across Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe underscored its commitment to providing stable, reliable, and efficient power to homes and businesses.
She said the upgrade, being executed in phases, includes replacing obsolete cables and rehabilitating transformers and other critical infrastructure to reduce downtime and feeder faults.
“The first phase of the project is on track for completion by December 20, ahead of the original schedule.
“The project is focused on enhancing overall network resilience and improving voltage stability across its distribution network.
“Key components of the upgrade include the installation of high-capacity transformers to improve distribution efficiency,” the communications officer said.
Ms Tunoh said an advanced metering infrastructure was being deployed to enhance billing accuracy and reduce technical losses.
She said that distribution lines and poles were also being upgraded to minimise power outages.
The communications officer, however, said customers might experience temporary interruptions during the accelerated rehabilitation.
Ms Tunoh reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering quality electricity services to its customers.
