Yobe Gov. Mai Buni bags Dubai award

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has been given an ‘Excellence on Youth Development’ award at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

On Wednesday, a spokesman for the governor, Mamman Mohammed, said that the ‘Young Nigerian Innovators’ in diaspora presented the award to Mr Buni for his contributions to youth development and talent hunt.

According to the senior special assistant to the governor on ICT, Adam K. Mohammed, Team Yobe displayed massive creativity in ICT at the exhibition, attracting international partners and investors.

He said the investors showed interest in the talents of the Yobe team and pledged to work towards investing in and partnering the state.

Mr Mohammed revealed that a Dubai-based ICT company pledged to train 100 Yobe youths in various ICT courses.

He also stated that the company pledged to sponsor three best-performing students to Dubai for further studies.

“The award is well deserved, considering the support Governor Buni has accorded youth and ICT development in Yobe state. We admire his dedication to youth development in Yobe state,” he added. “The ICT sector in the state is continually growing due to his continued support, interest and involvement.”
