Yobe: Suspected Boko Haram fighter killed, another arrested in gun battle

Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed a suspected Boko Haram fighter and arrested another during an operation in Abakuradi village, Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The army said in a statement on Monday that the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle during the operation conducted earlier in the day.
“Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of terrorist elements in the area on 5 October 2026, troops of 159 Battalion, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force, swiftly mobilised to the location and made contact with the terrorists,” it said.
It stated that during the ensuing encounter, troops neutralised one terrorist and apprehended another, while several others fled the scene with suspected gunshot wounds.
“Troops are currently exploiting the area and pursuing the fleeing terrorists to prevent their regrouping or further criminal activities,” it said.
