The Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the dispute involving Winhomes Global Services Limited and diaspora investors over the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project.

The CYMS Director General, Obinna Nwaka, who made the appeal during a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja, demanded adequate compensation and resolution of the matter.

The press briefing was organised alongside the chairman of Renewed Hope Concerned Citizens (RHCC), Tayo Agbaje.

Mr Nwaka expressed concern that the prolonged unresolved dispute, which he said had lasted over 24 months without resolution or compensation, posed a threat to Nigeria’s reputation as an investment-friendly destination.

He alleged that the delay reflected bureaucratic inefficiency and possible systemic failures within the governance framework.

“This unresolved matter jeopardises Nigeria’s reputation as a reliable and investment-friendly nation.

“Despite numerous submissions and discussions with relevant authorities, WINHOMES has not received resolution or compensation for over 24 months.

“This protracted delay raises serious questions about bureaucratic inefficiency and potential systemic failures within our governance frameworks,” he said.

Mr Nwaka said that continued inaction could reinforce negative perceptions about governance and accountability in Nigeria, especially as the matter had already attracted national and international attention.

He urged the president to intervene directly, clarify the authorisation for the demolition, ensure due process was followed, and guarantee fair and prompt compensation for affected investors.

“We therefore urge Mr President to intervene in this matter, as it extends beyond the Minister of Works and to clarify the authorisation for the demolition.

“We also asked that they ensure proper procedures were followed and guarantee fair and prompt compensation for all affected parties.

“Additionally, we request that the Federal Ministry of Works provide a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding the demolition, including its legal basis and the processes undertaken prior to execution,” he said.

The CYMS DG also urged relevant anti-corruption and oversight agencies to launch an independent investigation into the matter to determine possible abuse of office, conflict of interest, or constitutional breaches.

Mr Nwaka warned that Nigeria could not afford to project an image where legally acquired investments were demolished without accountability, stressing the need for leadership that upholds justice, transparency, and the rule of law.

Commending Mr Tinubu for his leadership, CYMS DG cautioned against actions by appointees that could undermine the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially as the country prepared for the president’s re-election bid.

“Mr President has performed well and deserved his flowers for a second term.
We will not be silent anymore and allow this type of situation where some people appointed by him will be acting in a way detrimental to the renewed hope of the administration.

“We won’t allow anything to frustrate the efforts of not just their principal but our principal, especially now that we are preparing for the re-election of Mr President, Bola Tinubu,” he said.

Mr Nwaka also appealed to Nigerians in the diaspora and the international community to remain engaged and vigilant, noting that the issue had implications for global investment flows and Nigeria’s business reputation.

He further appealed to the Association of Nigerian Diaspora Investors to suspend its planned protest and world press conference scheduled for April 20, 2026, at the White House, Washington, DC, USA.

Mr Nwaka pledged continued monitoring and advocacy on the matter until justice, accountability, and resolution were achieved, warning that delayed justice undermines public trust in governance.

“At CYMS, we remain committed to monitoring this situation in line with our mandate and will continue our advocacy efforts until justice is served and institutional accountability is established.

“Delayed justice not only denies affected parties their rightful remedies but also undermines public confidence in governance and diminishes Nigeria’s standing in the global community,” he said.
