Zamfara Assembly extends local government sole administrators’ tenure

The Zamfara House of Assembly has extended the tenure of the 14 local government sole administrators by six months.
This is contained in a statement by the parliament’s spokesman Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura.
According to him, the extension followed an executive request read during the plenary of the house by Speaker Nasiru Magarya.
“The house leader, Faruk Dosara, while moving the motion, said the extension is in line with the house standing rules 2012 as (amended),” a statement by the assembly said on Wednesday. “After various deliberations, the lawmakers unanimously agreed with the motion for the time extension for a period of six months effective from April 19, 2022.”
In the same sitting, the house screened and confirmed two special adviser nominees sent to it by Governor Bello Matawalle.
“The confirmed nominees are Kabiru Sahabi from Kaura-Namoda local government area and Aliyu Muhammad from Gummi local government area,” added the statement. “Also at plenary, the house considered a bill for a law to provide for the establishment and management of Zamfara State media corporation and for other matters connected therein 2022.’
The executive bill had scaled its first reading.
The house also considered a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Zamfara State Transport Authority and “for other matters connected therewith 2022.”
