170 suspected drug traffickers arrested in Osun in three months: NDLEA

The agency said it secured 16 convictions within the period.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun command, says it arrested 170 illicit drug trafficking suspects in the state from January to March.

The command made this known in its quarterly report, made available to journalists in Osogbo on Monday.

The agency said the 170 suspects comprised 143 males and 27 females, and 16 convictions had already been secured.

“99.609kg of Cannabis Sativa, 24g of Cocaine, 6.585kg Psychotropic substance and 105.131kg Methamphetamine were also seized,” it said.

The agency also stated that it carried out 34 ‘war against drug abuse’ sensitisation campaigns during the period under review.

It disclosed that 51 drug abusers were counselled, while one was rehabilitated.
