The police command in Jigawa has cautioned residents against carrying weapons to the venue of the May 29 inauguration for the governor-elect in Dutse.

The police public relations officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu, said this in a statement in Dutse on Sunday.

Mr Shiisu said all arrangements had been made for a hitch-free inauguration/swearing in of the new administration in the state.

He said the police would collaborate with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful conduct of the inauguration.

“Therefore, the command warns that non-state actors or any aggrieved persons or individuals who may plan to foment trouble are advised to desist, as the command will not hesitate to subdue confrontational or any act of disorderliness.

“The command is also advising good people of the state to turn out to the venue in an orderly manner and avoid carrying dangerous weapons or items that may trigger suspicion or apprehension. They should also avoid dangerous driving, overloading, and over-speeding and observe traffic rules and regulations,” he said.
