Nigeria Civil Security and Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,500 personnel in Plateau ahead of the Christmas and New Year.

NSCDC spokesman Nanko Rimvyok disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Rimvyok said the deployment aimed to ensure a peaceful and violence-free celebration in all parts of Plateau.

She said the deployed personnel comprising cover and physical duties would secure lives, property, and critical national assets and infrastructure.

NSCDC commandant in Plateau, Alexander Barunde, urged the residents to be law-abiding and Christ-like during the celebrations.

“The commandant warns mischief makers to sheath their plans as law enforcement agencies will leave no stone unturned until they are brought to book and dealt with decisively when caught,” the statement said.

The commandant also advised residents to support all the security agencies to ensure lasting peace and security in the state.
