The Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM), on Wednesday, said it has got an approval to begin a higher national diploma (HND) programme on artificial intelligence (AI).

The institution said it has also been granted approval to introduce five other HNDs and three national diploma (ND) programmes.

The public relations officer of the institute, Yusuf Gafai, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Katsina.

According to him, the approval is contained in a letter to the institution by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

He explained that the NBTE has also approved the restructuring of some existing ND programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Mr Gafai said that the other HND programmes include networking and cloud computing, software and web development, and cybersecurity and data protection, as well as accountancy.

According to him, the newly approved ND programmes are banking and finance, business administration and management, and also marketing.

He said that the restructured ND programmes include computer science, crime management, library and information science, multimedia technology, computer engineering technology and electrical and electronic engineering technology.

“This approval followed a successful accreditation and resource inspection exercise conducted by NBTE,” he said

He said that during the exercise, the institute was assessed and confirmed to have met the required academic, infrastructural, and administrative standards for quality technical education.

He stated, “The introduction of these new programmes and the restructuring of existing ND programmes are part of KSITM’s strategic efforts to align its academic offerings with current technological advancements, industry needs, and global best practices.”

The institution, consequently, urged members of the public and prospective applicants to watch out for further announcements regarding admission guidelines and programme details.
