The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of permanent voter cards (PVCs) across the eight local government areas of Bayelsa.

Isah Shaka, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), disclosed this at a news conference in his office in Swali, Yenagoa.

Mr Shaka explained that the cards are for voters who registered or applied to transfer their voting location in the first phase of the continuous voters registration (CVR) exercise conducted between August and December 2025.

“Distribution will start from October 9 to October 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, with Saturday and Sunday inclusive, at 105 wards across Bayelsa.”

He said Brass received 6,211 PVCs, Ekermor received 12,023 PVCs, Nembe received 3,620 PVCs, Kolokoma/Opokoma received 3,712 PVCs, Ogbia received 3,132 PVCs, Sagbama received 10,080 PVCs, Yenegoa received 6,332 PVCs, and Southern Ijaw received 7,115 PVCs.

The REC said voters who registered from 2011 to 2022 in any CVR exercise and did not collect their PVCs could visit any INEC office in their LGAs for collection.

Mr Shaka advised registered voters to check their names on the displayed registers (NRV) and verify their polling units before collecting their PVCs at their respective collection centres in person in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.
