A support group, Tinubu/Ambode Patriots, has endorsed the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the return of Akinwunmi Ambode, as Lagos State governor in 2027.

The group’s Coordinator, Dare Dada, at a meeting in Ikeja, noted that the position was based on Mr Tinubu’s “leadership credentials” at the national level, and Mr Ambode’s “proven track record” in Lagos  State.

Mr Dada said, “The Tinubu/Ambode Patriots reiterated that the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the return of former Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode to the Lagos State Government House remain the best options for Nigeria and Lagos State, respectively.

“The leadership credentials of President Tinubu at the national level and the proven track record of Ambode in Lagos State make them the most reliable choices to sustain development and accelerate progress across the country and the state.

“We are convinced beyond doubt that the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in the best interest of Nigeria. His administration has taken bold and necessary steps aimed at repositioning the country’s economy and governance structure for long-term stability and growth.”

It stated that Lagos State needed a tested and proven administrator as ex-governor Akinwunmi Ambode to return to Alausa, stating that his record in office spoke clearly for him and his return to power would further accelerate development in the state.

Reminding Lagosians of Mr Ambode’s developmental strides during his tenure as governor between 2015 and 2019, Mr Dada stated that the state needed “somebody with the experience and expertise to consolidate on the work already done by the All Progressives Congress-led government and also complement the efforts of the Federal Government.”

According to him, Lagosians who witnessed and still believe in Mr Ambode’s leadership when he transformed the state during his first tenure, are still clamouring for his return, hence, the state “does not need a neophyte at this critical time.”

“From massive road construction to improved security architecture and infrastructural renewal, his administration left visible footprints across the state. Lagosians are yearning for his return because they believe he understands the vision of a modern Lagos and possesses the competence and administrative capacity to drive it further. That is why many stakeholders are urging the All Progressives Congress to field the Epe-born politician again.”

Noting that the group had begun strengthening its grassroots structures across the state for widespread mobilisation and support ahead of the next election, Mr Dada called on the group’s senatorial and local government coordinators, as well as ward leaders in the state to begin early mobilisation at the grassroots.

He also urged them to engage residents, market leaders, youth groups and community stakeholders in the state, to explain why Mr Tinubu at the national level and Mr Ambode in Lagos State, represent the best leadership combination for sustained progress.
