2027: Nasarawa APC lawmakers back Gov. Sule’s preferred successor

Lawmakers of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have pledged support for Ahmed Wadada as the preferred successor of Governor Abdullahi Sule in 2027.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, made the position known while briefing journalists shortly after the 11th APC lawmakers’ caucus meeting on Tuesday in Lafia.
Mr Jatau said the APC lawmakers were united in their decision to support Mr Wadada, following his endorsement by Mr Sule.
According to him, the meeting was convened to foster unity, peace, and progress within the party in the state.
“We have discussed a range of issues involving unity, peace, and progress of the party, as well as the recent endorsement of Senator Ahmed Wadada by his governor, Sule, as his preferred successor.
“We, as APC lawmakers, are united and will remain loyal to the party and follow the decision of the governor on his preferred successor,” he said.
Mr Jatau commended Mr Sule for his leadership style, noting that the governor had handled the affairs of the state effectively.
The speaker reiterated that the lawmakers would fully support Mr Wadada’s aspiration in the 2027 governorship election.
“This is because, during consultations by APC governorship aspirants, we made it clear that we would support any aspirant endorsed by the governor,” he said.
Mr Jatau also appealed to other APC governorship aspirants to accept the governor’s decision and rally round Mr Wadada in the interest of party unity.
He stated, “I urge all aspirants to support the governor’s preferred candidate, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, and work together for the success of the party in 2027.”
