Actor James Handy stabbed to death; girlfriend’s son arrested, charged with murder

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has commenced an investigation into the death of veteran American actor James Handy, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend’s son in Tarzana, a neighbourhood in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, United States, on Wednesday.
The late actor played roles in films and television series, including Jumanji, The Rocketeer, Logan, Unbreakable, Criminal Minds, and Law & Order, among others.
The police, in a statement, identified the suspect, who stabbed the 81-year-old veteran actor, as Michael Gledhill, the son of the actor’s girlfriend.
The LAPD said West Valley Area patrol officers responded to the incident after receiving a call via the emergency number 911 at about 9:30 a.m. on the day of the incident.
“I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,” the LAPD recounted the caller’s words, before he ended the call.
The security agency said the actor, who was found unconscious with a stab wound to his chest, was rushed by the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police said the 44-year-old suspect, Mr Gledhill, signalled to nearby officers and presented himself as the person they were searching for.
The LAPD said the suspect was detained at the Los Angeles Van Nuys community police jail and charged with murder.
The suspect’s bail was set at $2 million.
The police described the actor’s death as “an isolated incident,” adding that it posed “no danger to the public at this time.”
