Ondo By-election: 79-year-old voter begs Tinubu to tackle insecurity, hunger

A septuagenarian, Adetarami Igbekele, on Saturday, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the worsening insecurity and hunger across the country.
Mr Igbekele, a 79-year-old voter, stated this in a chat with journalists shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 5, Ikoya/Igbinsi-Oloto Ward, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, during the Ondo South by-election.
He said many Nigerians are now living in fear and are afraid of travelling to their desired places due to attacks by bandits.
According to him, scores of Nigerians are living in hunger and poverty due to some government economic policies.
“We know that President Tinubu is trying to fight insecurity but I appeal to him to do more for the safety of lives and property in the country.
“Hunger and poverty are ravaging the land. President Tinubu should roll out targeted programmes to combat poverty and food insecurity in the country,” Mr Igbekele said.
He said that he came out to vote and to ensure that Dayo Faduyile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election, emerged victorious.
The septuagenarian commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its promptness and respect for the elderly during the voting process.
The by-election is being conducted to fill the vacant Ondo South Senatorial seat following the appointment of Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
