NEC commends Niger projects during inspection tour

The team lead of the Implementation and Monetary Committee (IMC) of the National Economic Council (NEC), North-Central States, Jerome Andohol, has lauded Niger State for implementing the council’s resolutions.
Mr Andohol stated this during a two-day assessment visit to projects executed across various sectors in the state.
He explained that the committee is responsible for inspecting and tracking the extent to which NEC resolutions were implemented.
He said, “There are benchmarks to which we have sent, and to a large extent, Niger has done creditably well, especially in health, infrastructure, and others.”
He stated the team started with Niger State and would visit other north-central states.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Finance, Lawal Maikano, commended the team for the visit.
He said the state was open to implementing suggestions and recommendations that would assist in closing any existing gap observed.
Projects inspected include the newly constructed five blocks of 20-unit semi-detached two-bedroom bungalows at Gurusu as safe homes for internally displaced persons (IDPs)
Others are the newly constructed level II primary health care centres; IBB specialist hospital; water interventions; ongoing teaching hospital; and ongoing roads and flyovers, among others.
The team also had interactive sessions with some ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) where questions were asked and recommendations made.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Aishati Usman, and other officials of the ministry led the visiting team on the inspection.
