Saudi Aramco tower damaged in Houthi attack

The ministry said the damage was limited and did not identify who was responsible.

A Saudi Aramco administrative building in Riyadh sustained some damage from falling shrapnel after an attempted attack on Sunday, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy said.

According to the ministry, there were no injuries or deaths reported.

Reuters, citing a witness, reported that windows were blown out across several floors of Aramco Tower in the King Abdullah Financial District.

The ministry said the damage was limited and did not identify who was responsible.

The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted Houthi missiles over Riyadh early on Sunday. The Houthis claimed they targeted the city’s financial district, but Saudi authorities did not directly attribute the damage to the group.

Aramco sites hit in renewed Saudi-Houthi conflict

The incident comes amid renewed fighting between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition. The conflict resumed in July, and the Houthis have since launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports and oil facilities.

Saudi Arabia has carried out air strikes in Yemen in support of its allies.

Aramco’s headquarters are in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The complex, which houses a major operations centre overseeing the company’s oil rigs, pipelines, refineries and export terminals, was attacked on October 13.

Saudi authorities reported a limited fire and no casualties. Reuters later quoted people with knowledge of the incident saying the complex suffered extensive damage.
