Adamawa govt trains 3,000 youth, women in vocational skills

The Adamawa Agency for Mass Education has begun training 3,000 youth and women on technical and vocational education in the Hong Local Government Area of the state.
The agency’s executive secretary, Aminu Umar, said this in an interview in Yola on Thursday.
According to him, the programme is being organised by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) with the support of the government of Germany.
He said the trainees would be exposed to sewing, welding and fabrication, interlock and tile making, poultry, fashion design, and shoe and bag making.
Mr Umar, who lauded Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration’s employment generation drive, added that it provided job opportunities and encouraged self-reliance in the state.
The Adamawa Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) has trained 15,500 youths in vocational skills in the last four years.
