Adamawa kidnappers killed, two victims rescued: Police
The police command in Adamawa said its operatives dislodged a criminal hideout, rescued two kidnapped victims and killed three kidnappers at Kona mountain in the Jada LGA.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, command spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Yola.
The statement said the operation was conducted on Wednesday following the command’s renewed commitment to enhance proactive strategies.
“The operation, which was carried out by the command operatives attached to Crack Squad and Hunters of Tabbital Pulaku Association, has yielded positive results.
“The outcome of these successes follow-up on a strategy designed by the command to checkmate offences bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, unlawful possession of firearms, amongst others,’’ the statement said.
According to the police, the suspected kidnappers January 24 stormed a cattle ranch of Alhaji Karlahi and whisked away Umar Jibo (18) and Idi Hassan (13) years to their hideout.
“The command mobilised the rescue team and went after the kidnappers. Upon sighting our men, they engaged them in a gun duel. As a result, three of them were neutralised, and others escaped with bullet wounds.
“Interestingly, the two victims were rescued unharmed,’’ added the statement.
Police commissioner Afolabi Babatola commended the officers and hunters for their gallant performance and urged them to sustain the tempo as a strategy for checking crimes in Adamawa.
Mr Babatola called on the populace to always give timely information to the police, especially the whereabouts of criminals and their hideouts
