ADC should give 2027 presidential ticket to Southerner not Northerner: Obi

Peter Obi, form has demanded that the African Democratic Congress coalition should zone its presidential ticket to the South for the region to produce a president to serve another four years.
In an interview with Daily Trust published on Monday, Mr Obi said, “We are urging this coalition to cede the presidential ticket to the South and let us finish this matter.”
The former Anambra governor, who has promised to serve just one term of four years if given the coalition presidential ticket, said a northerner should not emerge the coalition presidential candidate.
“Why should we have a northerner again when we can easily allow the south to complete their tenure to promote unity and cohesiveness? Afterwards, our northern brothers can take up their eight years,” Mr Obi said.
Mr Obi’s push for coalition ticket zoned to the South comes barely two weeks after coalition politicians adopted the ADC as their official party to fight 2027 presidential election.
This move could disqualify former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, a strong voice in the coalition, and other potential presidential aspirants of Northern extraction interested in running for president.
