American influencer Victoria Waldrip, popularly known as Woah Vicky, has tagged her recent kidnap claim in Nigeria as fake, saying she did that out of boredom.

Waldrip had, on X, shared a series of posts about being on a trip to Nigeria. A now-deleted tweet claimed she was kidnapped, adding a police report had been filed.

“I have kidnapped Vicky. She is with me in Nigeria. I am demanding $1 million for her release,” the tweet read.

However, Waldrip, in a new development, claimed she faked the kidnap because she was bored, apologising to her fans for the widespread rumours.

“Sorry about that, everything’s good ya’ll,” Waldrip said on her social media. “I was bored and having fun, just getting a laugh. Just getting a laugh, fam. That’s it. It’s all love, I’m just having fun with my brother; everything’s good.”

“I just wanted to show that Africa is a safe country. I was just trolling because everybody was like, why would she go to Nigeria. She is crazy. I just wanted to have a quick joke,” she added.

However, netizens expressed disappointment over her jocular stunt, recalling various cases of Ms Waldrip trying to work up her followers on social media.

Early in November, the influencer sparked relationship rumours on X when she posted her pictures with former NFL player Antonio Brown. However, the photos were later deleted, as Waldrip stated she was playing and that she was single.

Having admitted to playing about her recent kidnapping in Nigeria, Waldrip posted photos with a popular black actor called Aboki Tor Jar, describing him as her blood brother.

However, many of her fans have taken that as another unnecessary tactic from the influencer to draw their attention.
