APC recorded over 2 million e-registered members in one week, says national secretary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has recorded over two million digitally verified members across the federation, barely a week after the commencement of its nationwide membership e-registration exercise.
The party’s national secretary, Ajibola Basiru, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja, while giving an update on the exercise.
The APC scribe spoke to journalists after the party’s national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, met with its membership e-registration state coordinators.
Mr Basiru said that the exercise was critical to its foundation.
“In spite of the fact that many states are yet to commence the exercise on full scale, more than two million Nigerians have already been digitally registered, verified and captured with their voter registration numbers.
“With increased momentum across the states, we are optimistic that by the next assessment expected next week, the party’s digital membership strength could rise between eight and nine million,” he said.
He consequently called on party stakeholders at the state and grassroots levels to take the e-registration exercise seriously.
He described the exercise as a foundation for building a cohesive and organic party structure capable of mobilising support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Mr Basiri commended governors, APC state chairmen, and other stakeholders for their commitment and resources deployed so far.
He noted that the identified challenges were being addressed through continuous engagement with relevant stakeholders.
Mr Basiru emphasised that the e-registration was mandated by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC), at its December 2025 meeting.
According to him, the party’s NEC directed that all its members across the country, must be digitally registered before the end of January 2026.
He added that the exercise was critical to strengthening the party’s internal organisation and operational efficiency.
“The National Chairman charged all state coordinators to carry out this exercise correctly and within the stipulated timeline.
“Data is central to effective management, and this is even more important for a political party that relies on mobilisation, organisation and consultation,” he said.
He said that the party’s working committee had been empowered to closely monitor the exercise across states, and to replace any state coordinator that failed to perform diligently.
