The Coalition of Arewa Civil Society Organisations (CACSO) has demanded the identities of the killers of Ahmed Gulak, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo, eight months after his assassination.

CACSO, also in a statement by its convener, Haruna Jagindi, and general secretary, Danjuma Shetima urged the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba to launch an investigation into the ‘abduction’ of Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law of the former state governor Rochas Okorocha.

“The true identity of those that assassinated Honourable Ahmed Gulak should be revealed including their sponsors and their motives because the report confirms that Gulak was not the only occupant of the vehicle when he was assassinated,” CACSO said. “That the identity of those behind unknown gunmen should be revealed to Nigerians to help take precautions.”

Mr Gulak was killed on May 30, 2021 by unknown gunmen in Imo, on his way to the Sam Mbakwe Airport to board a flight to Abuja.

In the case of Mr Nwosu’s abduction, CACSO demanded that the motive behind the abduction be made public to Nigerians whether within the police hierarchy or among notable politicians.

“These elements did not just invade the church, but they did while fully mask up just like the popular unknown gunmen that we have in the state and they had nothing to identify or differentiate them from criminal elements,” CACSO noted.
