Arsène Wenger, Amokachi, Mercy Akide, others appointed into IFBA advisory panel

The trio were appointed alongside Kay Cossington, Jillian Ellis, Maxwell Scherrer, and Lydia Williams.

Seven new members, comprising four females and three males, have been appointed to the advisory board of the International Football Association Board (IFAB). 

Ex Nigerian internationals Mercy Akide and Daniel Amokachi were appointed alongside Kay Cossington, Jillian Ellis, Maxwell Scherrer, Arsène Wenger, and Lydia Williams.

These appointments are part of an ongoing engagement into the football regulation board. 

The four British football associations (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) each have one vote in the IFAB.

On the other hand, FIFA, which represents the remaining 207 national associations, has four votes.

As a result, the five bodies ensure the Laws are upheld while also honoring football’s traditions and worldwide reality.

When passing a vote, a three-quarters majority is required by the board for a motion to pass.
