Boeing to cut at least 2,000 finance, HR jobs in 2023

Aerospace company Boeing says it plans to cut at least 2,000 jobs from its finance and human resources department this year.
The company, which recently moved its headquarters to Arlington, Virginia, U.S., announced this in a statement.
“We expect about 2,000 reductions primarily in Finance and HR through a combination of attrition and layoffs,” it said in the statement issued on Monday.
“While no one has been notified of job loss, we will continue to share information transparently to allow people to plan,” the company added.
Boeing has been one of the largest private employers in Washington State, according to The Seattle reports.
The company grew its workforce by 15,000 in 2022 and plans to “hire another 10,000 employees this year (2023) with a focus on engineering and manufacturing.”
It plans to outsource a third of the eliminated positions to India-based Tata Consulting Services in Bengaluru.
Senior communications director Mike Friedman, said the eliminated positions were done to make reductions in finance and human resources support services.
Mr Friedman added that the company was “streamlining”.
He told The Times that, “Over time, some of our corporate functions have grown quite large. And with that growth tends to come bureaucracy or disparate systems that are inefficient.”
Boeing’s total workforce was 156,000 employees as of December 31, 2022.
