Borno Corpers barred from orientation camp
The 2020 Batch A corps members serving in Borno State have been exempted from the list of corps members that will be returning to the NYSC orientation camp to complete their three weeks compulsory camping on Friday.
Announcing the development, @officialnyscng, NYSC official twitter handle revealed that another set of 2020 Batch A corps members will be returning to camp on Friday, directing the selected corps members to print their resumption letter online.
“2020 Batch ‘A’ corps members serving in Borno are exempted from camp resumption,” the post read in part.
The outbreak of novel coronavirus had forced the federal government to declare a national lockdown that led to the indefinite closure of orientation camps in March 2020.
The closure of orientation camp came at the time when 2020 batch A corps members were in the orientation camp.
However, Shuaibu Ibrahim, the DG of NYSC, in June 2020 disclosed that the corps members who were asked to leave the camp as a result of the wide spread of COVID-19 in March, would return to camp to complete their orientation program once the COVID-19 lockdown was over.
In that light, the service corps made an arrangement for corps members to return to orientation camps in batches with two sets of the Batch A 2020 corps members already done with their compulsory orientation program.
Another set is expected to join the 2020 Batch stream II corpers who are already in the orientation camp on Friday January 29, 2021.
Borno has been the hotbed of insurgents activities.
