A magistrates’ court in Jos on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year-old butcher, Adam Musa, to two years’ imprisonment for attacking his sister’s neighbour with a cutlass.

Magistrate Irene Pati sentenced Musa, who pleaded guilty to assault.

The magistrate, however, imposed a N100,000 fine on the convict.

She also ordered him to pay N100,000 as compensation to the complainant.

The prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the complainant, Abdulmumin Adam, reported the case on March 24 at the Nassarawa Gwong Police Station.

Mr Gokwat said the convict attacked the complainant during an argument he had with his sister.

The police said that the complainant sustained injuries on his arm and leg.
