Carpenter in court for breaching agreement on repairing chairs

A 48-year-old man, Tunji Aminu, on Thursday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing and converting N120,000 meant for fixing a set of chairs.

Aminu, whose address was not provided, was charged with two counts of stealing by conversion and obtaining by false pretence.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on May 29, 2024, at No 13 Popoola Street, Owutu, Agric area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Mr Famuyiwa said that the defendant allegedly obtained and converted N120, 000 meant for fixing up set of chairs.

He said the money belonged to the complainant, one Adebayo Johnson.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate A.O. Ogbe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogbe adjourned the case until May 24, for mention.
