Chadian woman supplying hard drugs to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists nabbed: Military
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intercepted a logistics supplier for Boko Haram/ISWAP, Rachael Samuel. MS Samuel is from Chad. She was arrested in Kwatan Adorno village in Borno.
A statement on Thursday by Mohammed Goni, the spokesman for the troops, said the suspect was intercepted with prohibited items while travelling towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa LGA.
“Acting on intelligence, the troops on Thursday, 9 July 2026, intercepted a suspected foreign terrorist drug courier conveying a large consignment of illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages and other prohibited substances believed to be destined for terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad Islands,” he said.
He said the operation was carried out during intensive search operations along the Maiduguri-Monguno axis, where troops intercepted a suspicious vehicle heading towards Kwatan Doron Baga.
According to him, preliminary findings indicate that the recovered substances were being transported to locations within the Lake Chad Islands, an area known to harbour terrorist groups.
He said items recovered from the suspect included seven compressed bundles of suspected cannabis weighing approximately 30 kilogrammes, two 10-litre containers of a substance identified as hydromercuric chloride, popularly known as ‘suck and die’, one carton containing 48 bottles of dry gin, and 61 bottles of herbal alcoholic beverages, with an estimated street value running into millions of naira.
Other items recovered included one mobile phone, ATM cards, personal effects and cash.
“The suspect is currently in military custody, while all recovered exhibits have been secured pending handover to the appropriate law enforcement agency for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with extant laws,” he said.
Mr Goni said intelligence reports showed that terrorists frequently used illicit drugs and intoxicants to stimulate fighters, suppress fear and facilitate violent operations.
