The China Coast Guard has accused a Philippine vessel of deliberately ramming one of its ships in disputed waters near Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea.

CCG spokesperson Gan Yu said the incident occurred on Tuesday morning after more than 10 Philippine government vessels allegedly entered what China considered its territorial waters.

Mr Gan said the CCG responded with legal “control measures”, including issuing warnings, guiding navigation routes, and deploying water cannons to deter the Philippine vessels from proceeding further.

Around 10:00 a.m., a Philippine vessel with hull number 3014 reportedly ignored repeated warnings and collided with a CCG ship in what China described as a dangerous and unprofessional act.

Mr Gan stated the Philippine vessel’s actions were “malicious” and constituted a deliberate provocation, adding that the Philippines bore full responsibility for the resulting collision.
