Leaders of the Benue/Nasarawa Baptist Conference have tasked government at all levels to entrench justice and fairness in governance for the country’s peace, unity, and security.

The clergymen made the call on Saturday in Lafia at the 21st Annual Session of Benue/Nasarawa Baptist Conference.

They attributed some cases of kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, and communal clashes to a lack of justice and fairness to enforce the law and sanction perpetrators.

Samuel Adeyemo, the guest speaker at the conference, said leaders must depend on God in truth, spirit to succeed.

The guest speaker, who is also the Chairman of Kano State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said leaders would always ensure justice in their affairs when they depend on God.

“When a leader depends on God, that is when he or she will make promises and fulfil them, and be committed to peaceful coexistence and bringing the people out of insecurity and poverty,” he said.

Mr Adeyemo tasked the church leaders to live lives worthy of emulation by their members for a peaceful and united Nigeria.

Bulus Adamu, President Benue/Nasarawa Baptist Conference, called on leaders to ensure they initiate policies and programmes that would better the people’s lives.

He lamented that the current scarcity and high cost of petroleum products and food items were seriously adding hardship to the masses that were already going through a lot of challenges.

Mr Adamu, therefore, appealed to the government and other stakeholders to do everything possible to tackle the situation for the overall development of the country.
