The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV)  has urged Nigerians to see the Federal Government’s emphasis and support for the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as another form of palliative and business opportunity.

The group’s chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Mr Enekwechi noted that the initiative was meant to provide succour for Nigerians and open up another level of economic activities.

He explained that CNG was a cleaner and cheaper source of energy and environmentally-friendly that would be affordable to all classes of Nigerians.

He further noted that Nigeria had a huge gas deposit which had remained untapped over the years.

He added that the attention President Bola Tinubu-led administration was drawing to its use would greatly impact and stimulate the country’s economy as well as maximise its use.

“Apart from CNG, it is gratifying that the federal government has gone further to stop the export of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) also known as cooking gas.

“As a means of mitigating the soaring prices of the product and meeting local demand. It is also gladdening in its effort to make CNG available to all users.

“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is establishing 40 CNG stations and depots across the country in order to ensure easy accessibility for Nigerians,” Mr Enekwechi said.

He, therefore, called on the citizenry to take to the advice of Mr Tinubu by signing up to the CNG initiative which at N200 per standard cubic metre was cheaper than its PMS equivalent of N1,000 a litre.

The TMV chairman urged those saddled with the responsibility of ensuring easy accessibility to CNG kits, especially for commercial operations, to live up to their responsibilities.

The Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) is a component of the palliative intervention of Mr Tinubu’s administration directed at providing succour to the masses occasioned by the transitive hardships of the fuel subsidy removal policy of the federal government of Nigeria.

With the recent launch of the P-CNGi, the federal government seeks to utilise CNG for transportation and thus targets to launch one million CNG vehicles by 2027.
