A Shari’a Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, on Tuesday ordered one Ahmad Saidu to take his ex-wife, who is six months pregnant, to the hospital for medical check-up.

The Judge, Kabir Muhammad, gave the ruling after Safiya Usman, the ex-wife, complained that she had been ill and experienced bleeding, which her former husband did not take seriously.

She prayed the court to confirm the pronouncement of divorce between them after four years of marriage and compel the defendant to take care of her pregnancy.

When questioned about the amount required, the complainant replied that her ex-husband should give what he could towards the pregnancy expenses.

On his part, the defendant said he would give her N5,000 monthly.

The matter was adjourned until August 20 for the defendant to present a medical report of his pregnant wife.
