An Italian Appeal Court has temporarily reversed the 15-point deduction imposed on Juventus by the Serie A governing body FIGC over allegations of capital gains in their financial dealings.

The decision was made after more than three hours’ hearing at the Collegio di Garanzia on Wednesday, which is the highest sporting court in the country. The outcome immediately shuttled Juventus from seventh to third on the league table, boosting their Champions League hopes.

According to Football Italia, no evidence was presented by the FIGC at appeal with their place taken by CONI prosecutor in the case Ugo Taucer who said he “has a lack of clarity in the motivation that must be appreciated and evaluated by a new judgment.”

Following the ruling that has now favoured the Old Lady, the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal must re-evaluate for a new trial which could be within a month or beyond the end of the current season – any new punishment would be pushed to the 2023/24 season.

Former Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved and other low-ranking members of the club’s former board of directors saw the ban placed on them by FIGC cleared. But Juve president Andrea Agnelli and Director of Football Fabio Paratici saw their appeal rejected.
