An Ilorin, Kwara State-based lawyer, Yusuf Tajudeen, has advised parents to create time for their children and not allow their commitments to deprive them of family responsibilities.

Mr Tajudeen, who gave the advice in Ilorin on Friday, said most parents prioritise businesses over family responsibilities.

According to him, most parents never care to listen or establish any form of interaction with their children but run around on business/work trips.

“Put your family first in whatever you are doing. Never abandon your family all in the name of making money or business motive. Create time for them, interact with them, listen to your children and be responsible to them.

“Children need their parents to talk to. Don’t be too far away from them all in the name of being busy. You cannot allow a housemaid to take over your responsibility as a parent. Make yourself available and interact with them,” he said.

Mr Tajudeen stressed that children need parental love for their emotional stability and sharpness. He further advised the people to stop making their family a second choice, rather, to always prioritise them.
