CVR: INEC urges eligible residents to register in Kwara

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged eligible citizens in Kwara to seize the opportunity of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to register ahead of the 2027 general elections
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kwara, Hale Longpet, said this on Wednesday in Ilorin during a sensitisation rally to create awareness of the start of the 2025 Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Mr Longpet appealed to eligible residents of Kwara to turn out en masse for the CVR to enable them qualify to exercise their franchise and choose their representatives during the 2027 election.
He explained that the collection of the permanent voter’s card was the only means by which eligible Nigerians could elect leaders of their choice.
According to him, those who have attained the age of 18, need to transfer their records or replace lost or damaged PVCs, should take advantage of the exercise.
Mr Longpet called on the citizens to come for their CVR at INEC office or any local government office close to them from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Also, the state director, National Orientation Agency, Rotimi AbdulGaniyu-Dare, said that the rally was to create awareness on the CVR, so that more people could be captured to enable them to participate in the 2027 election.
“Definitely, more people will be able to register and capture, going by the span of the exercise, and that is the essence.
“This exercise started on Aug. 18 and it will go on till December, so expectedly, more people will be captured”, the NOA director said.
Mr AbdulGaniyu-Dare said that INEC had collaborated with NOA to create awareness on the CVR at the grassroots.
