A yet-to-be-identified business owner burst into tears after armed robbers stormed his shop in Asaba, Delta and carted away several electronic devices, including phones.

CCTV footage of the robbery circulating online showed the suspects entering the shop and appearing as ordinary customers. They brought out guns and threatened to shoot people in the shop.

The alleged robbers carted away mobile phones and other electronic gadgets from the shelves and packed them into bags.

The shop owner later stormed a local police station in tears as he lamented that it was the third time his store had been robbed.

“How many times will they rob me? I’m finished. All my millions I have worked for are gone. Nigerians, I’m tired. They have finished me in Asaba,” the businessman said.

“We are presently investigating and also on the trail of the suspect,” Delta police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, told the Peoples Gazette on Monday.

Meanwhile, several netizens on Instagram decried the rising crime in the area. Others expressed concerns about the effectiveness of CCTV systems, especially when not paired with live monitoring or rapid response mechanisms.

“This is evil. This is the second time they would rob the shop. Why is it that whenever goods enter, thieves come ro rob?” a netizen, primehomeboy, stated.

iamamdu said, “If we had a working system, they would be caught with their face on that camera.”

“The problems must of us are are facing is because we tend to praise who cannot save us and leave what can save us,” said blessedafricanqueens.

Timmy.ctc stated, “What is the use of CCTV cameras in Nigeria if we don’t have the technology to generate their data and files related to them from special intelligence agencies like EFCC or some kind of forces. This country is still lagging behind. No improvement, no resources, no inventory.”
