The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, Augustina Ogbodo, has reacted to a viral video in which some policemen were shown assaulting a civilian in the state.

The CP, in a statement on Sunday in Abakaliki by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, directed “detailed investigation into the incident.’’

She added that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against any policeman found culpable.

The CP added, “The attention of the command has been drawn to a viral video on social media on the uncivil conduct of some police officers attached to the command. We unequivocally condemn their unprofessional conduct and necessary administrative measures have already been initiated. Also, a detailed investigation into the incident has commenced to ensure justice and appropriate disciplinary action.’’

Ms Ogbodo emphasised that the command would not tolerate any form of misconduct or incivility to members of the public by any police officer.

She therefore urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, and report any case of harassment and misconduct to the command through 0803276251 and X FKA Twitter @joshukandu.

Other contacts are the complaints response unit desk officer on 08067577537, CP’s admin on 08063637354, and the command control room on 07064515001.
