EFCC disowns sale of forfeited Kano properties

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has warned the public against falling for fraudsters claiming to sell some forfeited properties in Kano on its behalf.
The anti-graft body’s caveat emptor is contained in a statement it published on Thursday.
Justice Nkeoye Maha of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court had ordered the forfeiture of the said properties to the federal government, EFCC noted.
However, there have been clandestine attempts to put the said properties up in the market by a shadowy company whose office is located in Gidon Buhari, Zoo Road, Kano, EFCC alleged in the statement.
Already, the company has engaged its agents to circulate a list of the forfeited properties to be sold to the unsuspecting buyers.
The anti-graft agency explained that the forfeited properties are still under litigation by the appellant, hence no one could buy or sell it.
“EFCC has not engaged or entered into agreement with any person or organisation(s) to dispose of the said properties. Those claiming to have been mandated to put the properties for sale are impostors,” stressed the anti-graft body.
It finally warned that should people fall victim for the scam, the commission said it will not be liable
