Yiaga Africa has estimated voter turnout in the concluded Ekiti State governorship election at between 34.1 per cent and 38.2 per cent across the state’s 16 local government areas.

Speaking at a press conference held on Sunday at the Afe Babalola Civic Centre in Ado-Ekiti, Dr Aisha Abdullahi, chairperson of Yiaga Africa’s 2026 Ekiti Election Observation Mission, said the organisation’s Watching the Vote methodology estimated voter turnout within that range.

“Yiaga Africa WTV’s PRVT estimates voter turnout to be between 34.1% and 38.2%, while INE’s official turnout figure announced at the state collation centre is 38.7%,” she said.

“INEC’s turnout figure falls slightly outside Yiaga Africa’s confidence interval. Yiaga Africa observed that the number of registered voters announced and used for the calculation of voter turnout by INEC during the State Collation and Declaration of Results was 988,251, Ms Abdullahi added.

She noted that the data were based on the 2022 voter register rather than the updated 2026 voter register, which has 1,059,360 registered voters.

This comes barely 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Biodun Oyebanji, the All Progressive Congress candidate winner by polling 319,224 votes.
